In an era where the world’s information is essentially at our fingertips, the importance of being transparent and conscientious of others is becoming all the more important – particularly in the fashion industry.
Although the idea of mixing fast fashion and sustainability in one sentence seems to make as much sense as fusing oil with vinegar, LA-based brand Reformation is out to prove otherwise with their latest collaboration with Red Carpet Green Dress.
Officially announced at The Camerons’ Red Carpet Green Dress gala at the Chateau Marmont’s legendary Penthouse 64 on February 19th, the capsule collection No Red Carpet Needed is made up of 6 timeless and more wearable versions of dresses inspired by previous Oscar gowns. The collection, which encompasses Reformation’s celebration of the feminine figure, with effortlessly cool and chic silhouettes, is available online and at Reformation’s Los Angeles and New York City boutiques.
Reformation owner Yael Aflalo, whose pieces have been worn by the likes of Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss and Rihanna, is set on demonstrating that locally-sourced clothing can be environmentally friendly, stylish and sustainable all at the same time. Each piece is cut and sewn at their factory in downtown LA using the most eco-friendly and pro-social practices available. Their sewing factory is the first sustainable one in the U.S., and is powered exclusively by renewable energy, It utilizes three sources of fabrics – rescued deadstock fabrics, re-purposed vintage clothing and eco-friendly materials.
Thanks to one-stop eco-shopping experience Lux & Eco, luxury vehicle brand Audi, and the patronage of artist Jason Decaires Taylor, the Lookbook team was not only given the unique opportunity to learn more about the world of fashion and sustainability, but to capture the most stylish eco-conscious looks worn during this iconic Hollywood event.
