As Europe’s most 17-century city, Amsterdam exudes the spirit of “live and let live.” It’s glistening canals and winding pathways make for travel by boat or bike an idyllic experience, rivaling that of Venice, Italy. Although for such an aged city, Amsterdam is remarkably progressive – built upon the concept of fine living, good food and an appreciation for tasteful art and street corner jazz.
This also happens to be the city where Ricarda Schernus of Cats & Dogs spent a few days while celebrating the launch of a friend’s new website. She was generous enough to share with us some of her favorite discoveries about this cozy, yet forward-thinking, destination!
“I don’t even think words can describe the beauty that is Amsterdam during the springtime. Despite the cold weather and grim wind, I had a great time, met some wonderful new people, and discovered little spots downtown that I didn’t even know before.”
“Please excuse my face, I couldn’t even smile or talk anymore because it was freezing so badly! I felt alright again after a couple of hot teas.”
“Although I think discovering your own little spots in the city is an adventure in itself, here are a few hotspots I would highly recommend visiting if you find yourself in Amsterdam sometime soon.”
“For breakfast and coffee – or lunch – try De Wasserette on Erste van der Helstraat 27”
“AMATØR x IVY & LIV temporary (located on Herengracht 296) is the best for boutique shopping.”
“Finally, Cottoncake concept store is a must (located on Erste van der Helstraat 76). They even have a real cotton plant!”
